Stay at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort

Recently, my family and I were able to spend a night at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort by renting Disney Vacation Club Points from a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) member. We are locals to Walt Disney World so we were able to arrive early and enjoy what the resort had to offer.

We asked for our room to be ready around noon. Disney does not guarantee rooms when the guest reports their arrival time during the check-in process on the My Disney Experience app. For us, the room took a while to get ready, so we availed ourselves of the resort.

We walked around the resort to familiarize ourselves with the layout and found the “quiet pool”. There were several guests enjoying the nice weather with a dip in the pool, but knowing my kids I knew I had to avoid the “quiet pool”. My kids (like most kids) wouldn’t be quiet in the “quiet pool”. Thus, we found the Luna Park swimming pool on the other side of the complex.

Luna Park’s pool has a waterslide that’s themed to look like an old wooden roller coaster, a bar named Leaping Horse Libations, a fairly large pool, a kiddie pool, and a playground. There are many hotel rooms that overlook the swimming pool. My family enjoyed the swimming pool and the paddling pool. My three year old didn’t want to leave the kiddie pool as it gave him more freedom than the larger pool. By the pool, the animation team involved the children in games to keep them entertained. Also, later on, a series of villain trivia was played with everyone in the pool. I love the recreation staff at the resort pools as they party and play fun music. I went down the toboggan, and I admit that it was a lot of fun! It’s a neat pool experience. Highly recommend spending time at the Luna Park pool. You can also go to the quiet pool, if that’s your thing. After the pool we came across Donald Duck and Pluto meeting guests on the boardwalk in their 50th best. My kids took pictures with them in bathing suits.

Our room took about two hours to become available. We were granted a pool view with a balcony direct to the Leaping Horse Libations bar. The room slept five with a queen size bed, a queen size sofa bed and a pull out double bed under the TV. DVC rooms are equipped with a microwave, coffee maker, paper plates and plastic utensils, and other amenities. I’m also here to say that I love the smell of Disney shampoo, conditioner, soap and hand creams. I need to buy some to have some at home.

My daughter and I walked to Epcot’s International Gateway that night for fun. This is one of the best parts of your time at the Boardwalk, quick access to Epcot by boat or walking path and Disney’s Hollywood Studios by walking path or boat. Walking to Epcot doesn’t take long at all. You can also stay on the boardwalk and dine, enjoy the entertainment, hire a bike to ride around the boardwalk and/or stroll around and just enjoy the ambiance. There are also daily activities to participate in every day, such as movies and arts and crafts. Check with the station for their daily schedule.

We certainly enjoyed our night at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort. I highly recommend spending time at the Luna Park pool, especially when the recreation staff are around for more fun. Take a trip on the roller coaster water slide!
