Universal Beijing Resort resumed operations over the weekend, sending a positive signal of the city’s tourism recovery over the summer, industry experts said.
The Tongzhou district resort town on Wednesday announced its reopening after being closed for nearly two months due to the pandemic.
According to a statement posted on its website, the resort plans to gradually resume operations while strictly limiting visitor capacity and fully implementing pandemic control and prevention measures.
The theme park, the resort’s most renowned attraction, reopened on June 25, but with shortened operating hours, the resort said.
Universal CityWalk Beijing and Universal Studios Grand Hotel resumed operations on June 24, while NUO Resort Hotel is scheduled to reopen on July 1.
As a first step, the resort will continue to suspend certain dining services and entertainment facilities. These will resume at a later date, depending on the pandemic and related requirements.
