Vacation Myrtle Beach resort opens water park ahead of Labor Day
Myrtle Beach, SC
Myrtle Beach’s oceanfront Landmark Resort opened a new water park just in time for Labor Day.
The $3million project comes as hotels around the Grand Strand have sought in recent years to upgrade their amenities to better attract guests as the destination rapidly gains in popularity.
Landmark Resort, operated by Vacation Myrtle Beach, a local hotel chain, has more than 500 rooms and is one of the largest properties in the area. The water park will be open seasonally, from spring to fall. Access is included for hotel guests.
“This is a momentous addition to our resort,” Vacation Myrtle Beach spokeswoman Kelly Simmons said in a statement. “We always want to provide our customers with a unique, fun and enjoyable vacation experience. Adding a new water park to their Myrtle Beach vacation was the perfect way to accomplish this.
The Ocean Boulevard complex is located just south of the heart of Myrtle Beach between 15th and 16th Avenues South. Landmark is also located between two of Myrtle Beach’s most popular piers, Springmaid and 2nd Avenue.
Here’s what the new water park has to offer:
- Three 40-foot-tall waterslides that span almost 240 feet in length.
- A ‘jungle-themed water play area’ for young children, featuring a 4-foot-tall ‘lion slide’ surrounded by ‘water spouts, parrots, dump buckets and a fountain cascading mushrooms”.
The resort also has 13 other ways for guests to enjoy the water, including large indoor and outdoor pools, two 300-foot-long lazy rivers, and six hot tubs.
“These slides will be both fun and exciting for guests. It’s a unique amenity to have at a Myrtle Beach resort, and we’re excited to offer it to our guests,” Simmons said in a statement.
The water park will be open until October 23 and will reopen next spring. Landmark Resort did not share a specific spring opening date.
