Winter Park Resort, CO, Doubling Expert Court Next Season | More slopes, cushions and cliffs – SnowBrains
In a blog post On Friday, Winter Park Resort, CO, highlighted several changes and improvements that guests will see at the resort next season. The most exciting of them is that they will almost double the ground reserved for resort experts.
The increase will focus on two sectors of the mountain; Circus and Mary Jane Falls. In the Circus, they will open a previously closed section known as “Jelly Roll”. This area is known for its steep hilly terrain and ability to hold light, fluffy snow for days after a storm. Looking at the trail map (and to my knowledge) this must be the even further area around the bowl beyond Alphabet Chutes which is a hike. I assume the Cirque Sled route will be extended to include this landing stage until a the elevator is installed.
Mary Jane Falls will also see more open avalanche controlled terrain, offering cushion lines and cliffs before spilling into the “powder field” between Trestle and the falls. Again, after skiing the falls, this new terrain should be to the right of the skiers on the hike to Hole in the Wall.
Another notable highlight of the blog post is “more frequent and earlier grooming.” Based on customer feedback, they will focus on grooming steeper terrain and other selected trails to create longer, steeper and more extensive groomed trails. Does that mean they’re going to pay more attention to Jane’s famous mogul races? Controversial!

What’s new at Winter Park this season
We know it’s still technically summer, but we haven’t stopped dreaming of cooler weather, powder days at Mary Jane and snowy views of Parry Peak ever since the Super Gauge stopped running. shoot in May. While we dreamed, our operational teams worked hard to prepare for an even bigger and better winter season. We’re excited to announce brand new terrain, grooming improvements for faster trail openings, additional nighttime adventures after the lifts close, and more this season! Take a look and start your countdown – winter is on the way!
Land reserved for experts newly accessible
Get ready to discover new powder hideouts this season with almost double the terrain reserved for experts! We plan to open a previously closed section of Cirque territory known as the “Jelly Roll” for its steep terrain and ability to hold light, fluffy snow for days after a storm. We also plan to open more lots in the Falls area on Mary Jane. These anticipated trails are avalanche controlled and offer cushion lines, cliffs and adventurous access to the popular “Powder Field” area between Trestle and the falls.
More evening activities
This season, the adventure does not stop after the ski lifts stop. We are excited to introduce our brand new Cosmic tubing nights. We are also bringing back cosmic ice skating, Guided skiing at sunsetand add new improvements to our party Snowcat & S’mores evening visit. We’re also extending our mountaintop after-festivities at Sunspot to Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, starting December 15th. The gondola is free after 4 p.m., so anyone can partake in the fun (and the views) at 10,700 feet.
More grooming and sooner
Also new this season are improvements to grooming operations, allowing us to groom more runs more often and open up more varied terrain sooner. With additional resources and personnel for surfacing, we will also be better prepared to make snow when and if conditions permit. Based on your feedback, we are focusing on grooming steeper terrain and other selected trails to create longer, steeper, more extensive groomed trails. All of these improvements will also help us continue to have one of the longest seasons in Colorado!
We understand that on busy days parking can be a challenge for some of our customers. Over the summer, we worked on expanding the G-Lot and widening a section of Mary Jane Road to add nearly 350 additional parking spaces to our complex. We are also introducing a real-time parking update feature on the Winter Park Resort App this winter so you can see which lots are full and which are still available as you approach the resort.
